Why we’re supporting Ricardo
Ricardo Ortega is a former foster youth, a first-generation college graduate, and a homeowner since 21. He manages a program for young adults at NAMI Greater Los Angeles County, and he helped pass state laws on foster-youth stability.
He wants Antelope Valley College to help students finish: more counseling and tutoring, help with books, food, housing and transportation, and career pathways into aerospace, healthcare and the trades. Students first, opportunity for all.
Ricardo’s record
- More counseling, tutoring and early support so students finish their degree, certificate or transfer.1
- Help with textbooks, transportation, food, housing and emergency costs beyond tuition.1
- Career pathways into healthcare, aerospace, logistics, the skilled trades and public service.1
- Support for first-generation, foster-youth, veteran and working-adult students.1
