We endorse

Scott Sakakihara

State Senate, District 10

Vote by November 3

Why we’re supporting Scott

Scott Sakakihara grew up in Union City and now serves on its City Council. He is a Navy Reserve intelligence officer, and his grandparents were held in WWII internment camps, including Manzanar.

He has opposed Trump's ICE raids and pledges to defend immigrants, LGBTQ+ Californians, reproductive freedom and Medi-Cal. His Republican opponent is praised by her own endorsers for supporting conservative candidates "all the way to President Trump." This open Bay Area Senate seat should stay in the hands of someone who will stand up to him.

Scott’s record

  • On the Union City Council, helped move forward two 100% affordable housing developments, convened a homelessness task force, and adopted the city's housing plan early.1
  • Led the update of Union City's climate action plan and the expansion of its electric bus fleet.1
  • Pledges to defend immigrants, LGBTQ+ Californians, reproductive freedom, Medi-Cal and CalFresh, and has opposed Trump's ICE raids.2

The choice

Oppose

Linda Price

  • An endorser quoted on Price's own site praises her work "to support conservative candidates from those running for school board all the way to President Trump."6
  • Price is endorsed by the Santa Clara and Alameda County Republican Parties and the California Republican Assembly.6

Where the race stands: Open seat. Sakakihara finished first in the June primary with 29.1%; Democratic candidates together won about 77% of the vote.7
