Why we’re supporting Marni

Marni von Wilpert grew up in North San Diego County in a military family. She prosecuted price gougers and corporate polluters as a deputy city attorney, and on the San Diego City Council she wrote the city's ban on untraceable ghost guns.

Darrell Issa's retirement left this seat open. Trump personally endorsed Jim Desmond, who voted against ending San Diego County's ICE contracts. Prop 50 made this a district Democrats can win, and von Wilpert is the candidate to win it.

Marni’s record

Wrote San Diego's ghost-gun ordinance banning untraceable guns and unserialized gun kits; passed 8–1 and took effect in October 2021.¹
As Public Safety Committee chair, pressed the city's ambulance contractor over missed response times; the city then approved added ambulance crews.²
Priorities: cost of living, stopping ICE enforcement abuses, reproductive freedom and LGBTQ rights.³

County Supervisor

Trump endorsed Desmond in April 2026, and Speaker Mike Johnson and House GOP leadership followed.⁷
As county supervisor, Desmond voted against ending the county's ICE contracts.⁸
Desmond called the county's resolution limiting cooperation with ICE "a direct betrayal of the people we are sworn to protect."⁹
